How This Tool Works
This bidirectional converter simplifies the relationship between true power (Watts, W) and apparent power (Volt-Amperes, VA). The conversion relies fundamentally on the concept of Power Factor (PF), which is the ratio of real power to apparent power.
When you input a value for either Watts or VA, the tool automatically calculates the missing measurement using the specified voltage. For example, if you know your load draws 1500 VA at 240V and the Power Factor is 0.8, the converter determines that the actual working power (W) is 1200W (1500 * 0.8).
The built-in swap button allows you to quickly switch inputs without re-entering data. This ensures accuracy when determining if your equipment specifications are listed in W or VA, providing instant, reliable results for electrical analysis.
