How This Tool Works
The Baking Pan Converter estimates the square pan side length that gives the same baking surface area as a round pan diameter. It uses the equal-area relationship square side = round diameter x 0.886.
Use the swap control to convert a square pan side back to the equivalent round pan diameter by dividing by 0.886. For example, an 8 inch round pan is roughly equivalent in area to a 7.09 inch square pan.
- Input: Round pan diameter or square pan side in inches.
- Conversion factor: 0.886, derived from equal circular and square areas.
- Output: The closest equal-area pan dimension in the opposite shape.
